Jeanne Galley, 83, of Tulsa, Oklahoma went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 5, 2011 in Tulsa. Jeanne was born in Yemassee, near Charlotte, South Carolina. Her family moved to Detroit, Michigan for several years and then returned to Charleston, where she graduated from North Charleston High School. There she met Orval Galley, a young serviceman in the U.S. Army stationed there in World War II. They later married and she followed him to his family home in Texas. She settled into life as a farmer's wife and homemaker in the Dawn farming community in Deaf Smith County, near Hereford, Texas.
Jeanne was very active in her community. She was a long time member of First Assembly of God Church in Hereford, serving faithfully in several capacities, including teacher and pianist/organist. She also supported the Dawn community through her service to the Dawn Home Demonstration Club, Dawn 4-H Club, Dawn Music Club, and others.
Jeanne and her husband Orval relocated to Tulsa in 1994, and joined the Calvary Temple Assembly of God Church in Tulsa, serving in several capacities.
She is survived by her husband, Orval, of Tulsa, brother Robert of Royal Oak, Michigan, daughter Janice Hobelman of Tulsa, sons, Robert Galley of Denver, Colorado and Paul Galley of San Antonio, Texas, eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by parents, Frank and Doris Belger
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Calvary Temple Assembly of God Church, 4701 W Edison, Tulsa. Rev. Tim Watkins will officiate. Visitation will be on Friday, May 6th, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Mobley-Dodson Funeral Service at 211 E Broadway in Sand Springs, Oklahoma. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.mobley-dodsonfuneralservice.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mobley-Dodson Funeral Service of Sand Springs, Oklahoma.
Graveside services and burial will be at West Park Cemetery in Hereford, Texas on Monday, May 9, 2011 at 10:00 a.m., under the direction of Gililland-Watson Funeral Home of Hereford.
