Dorothy G. Copeland, 91, of Elizabeth Township, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012. She was born Dec. 22, 1920, in McKeesport, the daughter of the late Hartley O. and Theresa O'Neil Gallatin. She was the wife of the late Robert L. Copeland who died July 17, 2003. Dorothy was a member of Central Highlands Community United Methodist Church, Elizabeth Township. She was also a member of the Elizabeth Township Senior Citizens. She loved bowling, square dancing and the Steelers. She was a secretary to the principal at Elizabeth Forward Middle School and High School and was a former teacher's aide for the Allegheny Intermediate Unit. She is survived by her sons, David R. (Cheryl) Copeland, of Elizabeth Township, Daniel H. (Cindy) Copeland, of Mt. Pleasant, and Robert "Kip" (Gaylene) Copeland, of Greenock; grandchildren, Rhett, Michael, Erin (Barton), Dan (Jen), Maureen, Brandon (Melissa), Joshua (Erika) and Clinton (Riley); great-grandchildren, Liam, Grace, Ella and Senna; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Buser. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dorothy's loving caregiver and friend, Jeneen McKenzie. Friends are welcome from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at the GILBERT FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 6028 Smithfield St., Boston, Elizabeth Township. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Central Highlands Community United Methodist Church with the Rev. William Starr officiating. Everyone please meet at the church. Interment will follow at the Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth Township. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that memorial contributions be made to Central Highlands Community United Methodist Church, 100 Timothy Drive, Elizabeth, PA 15037.
