Lois Mary Bentz of West Chester passed away on Sunday, Aug. 5, 2007, peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer.
Lois was the loving wife of James Bentz and dear mother of Kevin J. Bentz of Philadelphia, Scott R. Bentz of West Chester, and Katie H. Bentz (Gerard Leib) of Philadelphia.
Lois was born April 9, 1948, and was the daughter of Gertrude Gallagher and the late Frank Gallagher.
She is survived by her brother, Frank Gallagher (Lynn Gordon) of Pipersville; and her sister, Susan Tomlinson (Bill) of Warminster.
She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Lois was a graduate of Villa Joseph Marie High School and Marywood University, class of 1970.
She volunteered at Brandywine River Museum and at Paoli Hospital.
Rally for the Cure was an avenue by which Lois supported many cancer programs through golf tournaments, walks, runs and other activities.
She was a member of Radley Run Country Club.
Even while suffering with cancer, she still tried to golf each Thursday with the 18 Hole Women's League.
A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, Aug. 10, at 10 a.m. at Ss. Simon and Jude Church, Route 3 and Route 352, West Chester.
Family and friends may visit on Thursday, Aug. 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday after 8:30 a.m. at The Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester, 610-431-9000, www.donohuefuneralhome.com.
Interment will be in Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield.
