Helen Marie (Gallagher) Fowler, age 103, of Waseca, died Saturday, September 9, 2023, at Lakeshore Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born August 5, 1920, in St. Mary's Township, a daughter of the late George Walter and Mary Magdalene (Marso) Gallagher. She graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic School, Class of 1937. Following graduation, she attended Mankato Commercial College to earn certifications in Secretarial and Bookkeeping, in 1938. Following school, she went on to work for State Farmers Mutual Insurance Company, and Jostens, prior to her marriage.

On October 2, 1948, she married Harry William Fowler Jr., and they owned and operated Fowler's Dairy for the next 24 years. Her most recent occupation would be Bookkeeping and Appliance Sales for Brown Electric Company, in Waseca, where she worked the last 16 years of her career, until her retirement in 1994.

She was a lifetime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, she was a volunteer for Mayo Clinic Health System, Waseca Senior Center's RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program) and was a member of Waseca's Lakeside and Bridge Club. She enjoyed golfing, playing bridge, bowling, bingo, knitting and crocheting. Helen was very socially active and engaged with her community and friends, until the day she died.

She is survived by her daughter, Connie Fowler of Warrenton, Virginia; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; three sons: Mark, Mike, and Brad Fowler; siblings: Marge Baumgartner, Ray and Bob Gallagher, and Irene Nicolin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, September 21, 2023, at 3:00 PM, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Waseca, with Father Glenn Frerichs, officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service, at the church.

The family has requested no flowers be sent for the service. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Waseca Senior Center or Sacred Heart Catholic Church Building Fund. Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Service is handling the arrangements.
