Galindo, George T.
81, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2009. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, followed by 10 years in the 158th Regimental Combat Team (RCT) Arizona Army National Guard, receiving honorable discharges from both. He is to be remembered as a member of The Saint Vincent De Paul Society at Saint Mark's Parish, a Legionnaire, Past Commander, and Lifetime Member of American Legion Post #41. He was also a 48 year member of Voiture 35 of La Societe des Quarante Hommes at Huit Chevaux, more commonly known as "The Forty & Eight". A lifelong member of the Republican Party, he worked as a Land Surveyor and Construction Building Inspector for 50 years. He began his career working for Holmquist Engineering Company, followed by the Bureau of Public Roads, Sparling Engineering Company, Ferguson-Morris & Associates, and retired after a 20 years with John Carollo Engineering. Predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Carmen Perez Galindo, and sisters Juanita Candelaria and Angelica Murrieta, he was the loving father to Louis Galindo, League City, Texas, Ramona Galindo-Stendahl, Gilbert Galindo, and Sonja Larkins, all of Phoenix, Arizona. He also wished to acknowledge a very special niece, Mrs. Stephanie Ann Gallardo and Family. Many thanks to his daughter-in-law and her family, Belinda Galindo, who were always there to help and assist. He is survived by 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. A viewing at 8:30am prior to the funeral mass at 10:00am will be held at Saint Gregory's Church, 3424 N. 18th Ave, Phx, AZ on Thursday, January 29, 2009. He will be laid to rest at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Road, Phx, AZ on Friday, January 30, 2009 at 9:30am. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Saint Vincent De Paul Society of Saint Mark's Parish, Phx, AZ, in care of President Max & Chris Rubino, 3302 E. McKinley St., Phx, AZ, 85008
