Justin Edwards Gale, husband of Emma Marie Whitman, was a graduate of Harvard (1866) and became the principal of the Berkeley Street School in Cambridge, MA from 1870-1880. He later became treasurer of the Brookside Mills, Lanette Bleachery & Dye Works of West Point, GA. He died in 1918 in Weston, MA. His parents were Rev. Wakefield Gale and Mary Lousia Bigelow Gale.
