Barry Galbraith immigrated to Canada at the age of 18 and filed on a homestead in the Cosmo district near the emerging village of Sangudo, Alberta. In 1915 he returned to England to join the war effort serving with both the Canadian Expeditionary Force and the British Army. He was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant 29/1/1916. At the end of the war Barry brought his bride Annie Lucy Whitehead back to Canada where they raised 7 children. Barry worked as a farmer specializing in poultry, a restaurant owner, and a government poultry inspector. He was a frequent poultry judge at agricultural fairs.
