Jennie E. Gaines, Arrington, died Sunday, March 14, 1999. Born in Nelson County January 23, 1928, she was a daughter of Myrtle Morse Giles and the late William P. Giles. She was the wife of the late Fletcher B. Gaines.
She was a member of the Ladies Aide and Woman's Auxiliary, and had been a retired employee of the Joan & Jay Garment Factory. In addition to her mother, Myrtle Morse Giles, she leaves to cherish her memories, three sons, Fletcher "Buddy" Gaines and Kelvin "Chuck" Gaines of Amherst, and Charles Gaines of Madison Heights; two daughters, Genieve G. Thompson of Arrington, and Linda G. Thompson of Amherst.
She is also survived by seven brothers, James and Gilbert Giles of Pennsylvania, Joseph, Ernest, Alexandria and Anthony Giles of New Jersey, and Walter Giles of Arrington; three sisters, her twin sister, Mary Gaines of Roseland, Arlene Martin of Arrington, Annie Fanniwell of New Jersey; and fourteen grandchildren.
In addition to her father and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Victoria Fisher.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, March 20, 1999, at Oak Hill Baptist Church with burial in Oak Hill Memorial Gardens. Funeral arrangements were by Byrum-Parr Funeral Home.
