Carolyn Virginia Sikes Cady Gaiennie was born on May 27, 1917 in Perry, FL to James Oscar Sikes and Annie Glenn McFarlin Sikes. She passed away from natural causes on August 22, 2014.
Carolyn was married in 1937 to then Lt. Gordon D. Cady of Port Huron, MI. They had two children, Marcia Cady Cobian (Frank) of Reno, NV and Jo Carol Cady Boyd (Jim) of Jeffersonton, VA. Cdr. Cady was killed in a plane crash in August 1944 on the USS Belleau Wood.
Carolyn remarried in 1949 to then Lt. George W. Gaiennie; Capt. Gaiennie passed away in 1984.
In addition to her daughters, Carolyn is survived by granddaughter Kristen Bartelt of Coronado, CA; grandson Kurt Hamilton of Reno, NV; grandsons William and Kirk Bryant of Palmyra, VA; and great-grandsons Mitchell and Erik Doucette of Vista, CA and Coronado, CA respectively.
