Betty Jo Gable, 70, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. A Tupelo native and longtime resident, she was born Feb. 15, 1940, to Dee Pearson and Addie Bell Garrett Hall. She was a nurse at the North Mississippi Medical Center for more than 30 years. She enjoyed camping, traveling and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of Plesant Grove Church of Christ.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with her nephews, Steve Smith and Gerald Smith, officiating. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery in Pontotoc County. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include her children, Dennis Gable (Pam Holley) of Pontotoc, Sandy Brooks (Gene) of Rienzi and David Gable (Elizabeth) of Belden; two sisters, Dorothy Smith of Jasper, Texas and Faye Hall of Tupelo; eight grandchildren, Lindsey Harmon (T.J.) of Hatley, Brianna Gable of Pontotoc, Sydney Brooks and Carrey Brooks, both of Rienzi and Addison, Connor, Prent and Maylen Gable, all of Belden; two great-grandchildren, Tucker Harmon and Brady Edlemon; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 33 years, Perlis Gable, who died in 1990; one grandson, Luke Austin Brooks; and two brothers, Marion Bonner (Short) Hall and Dee Pearson (Sonny) Hall Jr.

Pallbearers will be Lee Duncan Jr., Todd Jordan, David Jordan, Vince Haygood, Rex Haygood, Joe Young and T.J. Harmon

Honorary pallbearers will be John Brooks Belue and Kevon Brooks
