Lucille Castillo was born on November 23, 1920 to Juan Rey and Rebecca (Chavez) Gabaldon in Belen, New Mexico passed away on Monday, June 6, 2011.
Lucille was a cheerful, fun, loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many. Lucille worked for Dr. Loren Shields for several years, then was the secretary at St. Mary Elementary School for over twenty years. Following her time at St. Mary's, she became an avid collector of antiques opening and operating her own business at the Classic Century Square on Central near Nob Hill for over 15 years. Over the years, Lucille kept in touch with many of the students from St. Mary's and made many new friends in her antique business and travels. Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, son, Christopher and granddaughter, Jennifer.
Lucille is survived by her children, Rebecca Sandoval and her husband, Deacon George of Albuquerque, Arthur "Larry" Castillo and his wife, Sue of Los Lunas, Mary Therese Marquez and her husband, David of Georgia, former daughter-in-law, Debbie Rugg, grandchildren, Nichole and her husband, Chip, Christa, Paul and his wife, Ladonna, Geoff and his wife, Kathleen, Christopher and his wife, Melissa and John Adams, great-grandchildren, Tyler, Connor, Andres, Colin and Lorenzo, sister, Julia Silva and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 10, 2011 at French Mortuary, University Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 619 Copper Avenue NW with Reverend Leo Leise, S.J., presiding. Interment will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery following the Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Mary School Capital Campaign, 619 Copper NW, Attn: Liz Lopez, Albuquerque, NM 87102. The family would like to thank Lucille's faithful caregivers at Paloma Blanca Nursing and Rehabilitation Center; Dr. Noah Harris, M.D. at Presbyterian Hospital Downtown, for his compassionate care and support; the gifted and compassionate physicians, nurses and aides at Kaseman Presbyterian Hospice for their loving care of Lucille and compassionate support of our family.
