NEWPORT NEWS - Flora Judith Futrell Morgan, better known as just 'Flo,' was called to eternal rest on Thursday, June 9, 2005, at 7:20 p.m., at Capital Hospice Center in Arlington, Va. She spent her last few months of life visiting with her family in McLean, Va. Flora was the daughter of the late Aubrey Winston Futrell and Wilma Cumbo Futrell of Hampton, Va. She was born in Bryant Town, N.C., on Aug. 16, 1931. She is the first child of five children, Jean Futrell Britt, Wilson 'Buddy' Futrell (deceased), Clarence Futrell and Ronkus Futrell (deceased). Flora attended Potecasi Elementary School, Rich Square High School and graduated from Carver High School, Newport News, in 1952. She met the late Earl Murphy Morgan in 1949 and they formed a union on April 19, 1951. To this union were born four adoring children, Michelle Morgan Spady of McLean, Steven Murphy Morgan of Newport News, Loretta Haunani Morgan of Washington, D.C., and TuJuana Wilma McMillan of Hampton. She was a member of Potecasi Church, N.C., in her early years, but joined First Baptist Church-East End, Newport News, in 1950. She served both extremely well for many years. She leaves to cherish her loving spirit, her four children, Michelle, Steve, Loretta and TuJuana; six grandchildren, Adia Waldenberg, Morgan Shaw, Armani Morgan Spady (deceased), Bradford Spady, Essence McMillan and Ezra McMillan II; sister, Jean Futrell Britt, and brother, Clarence Futrell; brother-in-law, Joseph Britt; sister-in-law, Alma Slade Futrell; two sons-in-law, Arnett Spady and Ezra McMillan; an aunt, Luchia Cumbo; an uncle, John Futrell; and an abundance of affectionate nieces, nephews and friends. A funeral service will be held from 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 16, at First Baptist Church-East End, 640 30th St., Newport News, with the Rev. William J. Marshall officiating. Interment will follow at Hampton Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will assemble at 64 Ash St., Newport News, by 10 a.m. on Thursday. Viewing will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday at Ronald C. Perkins Funeral Home. Arrangements by Ronald C. Perkins Funeral Home, Ronald C. Perkins Jr., Funeral Director.
