Mrs. Ethel Futch Brannen, age 80, died Tuesday morning at East Georgia Regional Medical Center after an extended illness. The native of Evans County was the daughter of the late Herman and Etta F. Futch. She lived most of her life in Bulloch County and was a homemaker. Mrs. Brannen was a very talented seamstress who enjoyed making beautiful quilts and crocheted pieces. She was a member of the Westside Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Danny Skinner; two granddaughters, Maurisa Brannen and Tonya Brannen; and a great-grandson, Ryan Stewart.
Survivors include one daughter, Karen Brannen Denton of Statesboro; two sons and daughters-in-law, Edwin Allen "Joey" and Patricia Brannen of Deltona, Fla., and Ralph Douglas and Merle Brannen of Garden City; two sisters, Nancy Futch Warnell of Pembroke and Norma Futch Geiger of Statesboro; one brother and sister-in-law, Charles Stanley and Margaret Ann Futch of Pembroke; 11 grandchildren, Annette Gwinett, Michelle Stewart, Douglas Brannen, Allen Brannen, Patrick Brannen, Tony Brannen, Jena Brannen, Sonya Brannen, "BJ" Patterson, Loretta Alforio and Bobby Pierce; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and a hoist of nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Westside Baptist Church with Rev. John Hanna officiating. Burial will be in the Red Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Jake A. Futch Funeral Home.
