Florence L. Fulk, 98, a lifelong resident of Indianapolis, passed away on November 9, 2009. She was born January 9, 1911, daughter of Charles Oliver Funke and Nora Belle Funke. She graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1928 and accepted a position as executive secretary at the United Christian Missionary Society of the Disciples of Christ where she worked for 10 years. On December 16, 1938, she married Carl C. Fulk and focused on rearing their two sons over the next 20 years. She then resumed her career with the Board of Church Extension of the Disciples of Christ, working as an administrative assistant until her retirement. As a member of Englewood Christian Church, East 38th Street Christian Church and Post Road Christian Church, she was active in women's ministries. She was especially interested in supporting and encouraging missionaries committed to cross-cultural evangelization. Florence is survived by her sons, Dennis L. (wife Ann) Fulk of Carmel, IN, and Pastor Terry R. (wife Carolyn) Fulk of Muskegon, MI; grandchildren, Melanie Ippel of Jenison, MI, Alison Cobb of Westfield, IN, Matthew Fulk of Grand Rapids, MI, Andrew Fulk of Conway, SC, Michael Fulk of Greenville, WI, and six great-grandchildren. Her family and her friends remember her for her gracious spirit and her Christian faith, exemplified throughout her life.
