Sophia Peterson Funk is the daughter of Anna Stina Nilsdotter and Peter Israelsson. She was born in Kristvalla, Kalmar, Sweden. Her family moved to Bornholm, Denmark when she was a young girl. She arrived in Salt Lake City on the 29 September 1866 after a long journey across the ocean and the plains. She married Hans Madsen Funk and became his second wife on 24 May 1869. She and Hans had 3 children, one son and two daughters. George Waldemar Funk died as an infant in 1870. Sophia is buried in the Richmond Cemetery, but there isn't a headstone.
