Annie Gartman Funchess- born in Citronelle, AL and longtime resident of Mobile, AL and Panama City, FL, died on August 15. She was 98 years old. Wife of George Clarence Funchess, who was retired from International Paper Company in Mobile, Mrs. Funchess was a member of Springhill Baptist Church. A proud mother, grandmother, great-grand-mother, sister, and aunt, Mrs. Funchess is survived by her daughter, Georgiann F Aldridge and son-in-law, Garet V. Aldridge, Jr.; granddaughter, Catherine Anne Aldridge Flanagan and grandson-in-law, Bill G. Flanagan; grandson, Garet V. Aldridge, III and grand-daughter-in-law Cassandra Craft Aldridge; great grandchildren, Nicholas Ethan Aldridge and Elizabeth Breann Aldridge; sister, Marie Gartman Fillingim; brother, Curtis Gartman; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home on Thursday, August 20, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Funchess will be laid to rest next to her husband, George Clarence Funchess in Pine Crest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Little Sisters of the Poor, 1655 McGill Ave., Mobile, AL 36604, in memory of Mrs. Funchess. Annie Gartman Funchess -- Funeral services were held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home on Thursday, August 20, 2009 at 2:00 pm with Dr. Sidney Leak officiating. Pallbearers were Bill Flanagan, Trey Aldridge, Charlie Bryan, Barry Carlisle, Dr. J. Michel McGilvray, and Pete Pedersen. Interment was in in Pine Crest Cemetery.
