Ora Moss Fultz, 91, of Lafayette, died Monday, June 6, 2011, at Indiana University Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette.

He was born in Lafayette on July 28, 1919, to the late Sillas and Eva Fultz.

After graduating from Dayton High School, he enlisted in the Marine Corps. He served during World War II in Saipian, Tinian, Okinawa and the China Burma region with the military police. He was honorably discharged and later called back to serve during the Korean War.

He married Margaret Hainje on Feb. 11, 1943, in Lafayette, and she survives.

Mr. Fultz retired from TRW Ross Gear in 1984 after 25 years of service and later went to work for the West Lafayette Walmart as a greeter for eight years, retiring in 2009.

He was involved in the community, serving as a West Lafayette Auxiliary Police training officer for 20 years, a Lafayette Reading Academy tutor for 15 years and was on the Board of Directors of Lafayette Industrial Federal Credit Union for 36 years. The Meijer Drive Credit Union Branch was named in his honor.

He had lifetime membership in the Marine Corps League, where he served as a detachment commandant, a state commandant twice and a national chaplain for six years. He was also a member of the Navy Club, American Legion, VFW Post 1154 and China Burma Association. He was a Gideon, a member of Battle Ground United Methodist Church, Pleasant Grove Grange, Tippecanoe County Fair Board and Tippecanoe Steam and Gas Power Association.

Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Pat Smith (husband: Art) of Brookston and Cindy Saling (husband: Ron) of Spokane, Wash.; a son, Don Fultz (wife: Patti) of West Lafayette; and a sister, Beulah Hurst of Virginia.

Also surviving are 6 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by 2 brothers, Thurman and Francis. Ora and Margaret were married for 68 wonderful years. Ora believed in hard work and decent values with love of country, family, community and God.

A private burial will be held at Elmwood Cemetery in Romney.
