Bernadine Fulford, 82 of Pana died Friday, August 18, 2006 in St. Louis University Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri.
She was born October 23, 1923 in Lakewood, IL, the daughter of Oliver & Emma Giberson Askins. She lived her entire life in the Lakewood & Pana area. She was a mother first, but had worked at DePaepe & Ashcraft Nursing Homes and later at Hawthorne Lodge. She loved her grandchildren, tropical fish and cooking.
Bernadine married Charles Esper Owens, he died in 1965. She married Windle Loren "Jake" Fulford on August 9, 1981 in Pana, IL. He died September 10, 2000.
Bernadine is survived by her children: Gary Owens, Clarkfield, CA, Bill Owens & wife Joyce, Nokomis, IL, Danny "Curly" Owens, Assumption, IL, Jackie Kay, Pana, IL, Debbie Harmston & husband Larry, Pana, IL, Phyllis Rowden, Pana, IL; 19 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; brother: Harold Askins, Shelbyville, IL; and by her sister: Lena Hocq, Shelbyville, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, daughter Marilyn Warren; son David Owens; 1 grandson, 1 great granddaughter, brothers: Bill Askins, Warren Askins; and sisters: Rohima Minks, Edith Law, Eva Allen, and Lenore Schlosser.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 22, 2006 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Ronald Brown officiating. Burial will be in Rosemond Grove Cemetery, Rosamond, IL. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home.
