Peggy J. Carpenter, 78, a resident of Crofton since 1968, died Jan. 1, 2010 after a year-long battle with lung cancer.
Peggy was born Oct. 10, 1931, in Macomas, W.Va., to Harry and Veda Fulford.
In 1950 she married the late Glenn B. Carpenter and together raised five children, twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was the proprietor of Peggy's Gifts on Crofton's Village Green for many years, where she sold a variety of gifts and created custom silk flower arrangements.
Survivors include her children, Gary Carpenter and his wife, Beth of Crofton, Leslee Brady and her husband, Pat of Gambrills, Susan Carpenter and her fiancÚ John Filardo of Crofton, Dana Coggan and her late husband David of Crofton and Gay Warshaw and her husband, Dave of Catonsville; her sister, Gail Gellatly of Seminole, Fla.; brother, Harry Fulford of Baltimore; grandchildren, Scott and Gary Carpenter Jr., Bryan Jan, Owen and Elliott Boyle, Matthew Brady, Kathleen Nepp, Maureen Doran, Katelyn and Corianne Coggan and Bill and Jimmy Warshaw; and seven great-grandchildren.
Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 4 at Beall Funeral Home, 6512 NW Crain Hwy. (Rte. 3 South), Bowie, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Private interment.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Hwy., Annapolis, MD 21401.
