Funeral services for Mrs. Irene F. Bass, age 85, of Route 2, Pelham, were held at 2 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church. The Revs. J. E. Autry and Pete Owens officiated, and burial followed in the church cemetery with Braswell Funeral Home in charge. Active pallbearers included Wayne Willis, Steve Walters, Robert Bass, Perry Willis, and Winston Bass. Honorary pallbearers were Ernie Shiver, Lonnie, David And Stanley Bass and Johnny Kelly.
Mrs. Bass died Friday, Dec. 17, 1982 at a Pelham nursing home after a lengthy illness.
Born Mach 3, 1897, in Grady County, she was the daughter of George and Alice Haire Fulford. She was a housewife and was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church. Her husband, Lonnie David Bass, preceded her in death. Survivors include five sons, Leo and P. L. Bass, of Pelham, Othell and Acie Dell Bass, Phenix City, Ala., and Aaron Z. Bass, Tifton: four daughters, Mrs. Roscoe Willis, Pelham, Mrs. Milton D. Wills and Mrs. Donald J. McKenzie, Thomasville, and Mrs. W. T. Walters, Albany; a sister, Mrs. J. O. Bass, Meigs; 28 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
