Oneta Agnes Bowyer, 79, of Brunswick, died Nov. 3, 1994 at the Pioneer Health Center in Marceline. She was born Nov. 1, 1915 in rural Mendon. The daughter of James Henry and Ida Fern (Cox) Fry. She was a lifelong Chariton County resident.
Mrs. Bowyer was a sales clerk for Mattingly Brothers for eight years, then she and her husband owned and operated Bowyer's Department Store in Brunswick from 1964-1967. She was a former member of the Keytesville First Baptist Church and was a present member of the Brunswick Baptist Church. She held several offices in both churches and she was a member of the Davis Foggin Club, and the Chief Winnie's Travel Club and the Ozark Winnie's Travel Club.
She graduated from Mendon High School.
She married C. L. "Jack" Bowyer, Dec. 17, 1934 in Laredo, Mo., and he survives at the home. Also surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Eugene and Charlotte Bowyer, Brunswick; one daughter and son-in-law, Rama and Harvey Weiseman, Brunswick; five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Leroy Fry and one sister, Leola Stoner, both of Mendon and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph and James Gilbert Fry, and a grandson Charles Alex Bowyer.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 5, 1994, at the McCurry-Berry Funeral Home in Brunswick under the direction of the Rev. Lanny Lybarger. Organist was Reneta Weisman Roe. A granddaughter, Janet Henke, gave a special reading. Burial was in the Elliott Grove Cemetery, Brunswick.
Pallbearers were her son and grandsons, Eugene Bowyer, Justin and Jamie Bowyer, Randall Weiseman, Delbert Henke and Tim Row.
