She was born in Clarksburg, WV, on April 8, 1925, a daughter of the late Lloyd Delbert Frum and Lottie Blanche Shreaves.
In 1926, Betty’s family moved from Charleston Avenue in Clarksburg, WV, to their farm on Crooked Run. The family moved in 1937 to Edgewood Addition, where she attended Victory High School, Class of 1943. On September 26, 1943, she married Robert G. Sturm. One son, Robert G. Sturm, was born from this union on December 28, 1946. Following their divorce, she later met and married Joseph K. Buchanan in 1978.
In addition to her parents, her first husband, Robert G. Sturm, and her second husband, Joseph K. Buchanan, Betty was also preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters, Jennings Frum, Lewis Frum, Lloyd Max Frum, James Frum, Burtis Frum, Virginia D. Murray and Martha J. Humphreys.
Betty was employed at local Elks No. 482 for 21 years and later worked for the State of West Virginia for 18 years. Betty enjoyed being a homemaker and especially making her famous pistachio cake, which she loved sharing with her friends and many cherished neighbors such as Kim and wife Margaret Pierson, Roy and wife Sue Criss, Lyndon Collins, Linda and Patsy Dinaldo, Ann and Rick Heim, Johnnie and Ruth Buchanan, Cecil Jenkins and many others from Center Court. Betty was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church in Clarksburg, WV, the V.F.W. No. 573, the Elks Club No. 482, and the American Legion Auxiliary No. 68 in Bridgeport, WV.
The family will receive friends at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home 329 E. Main Street, Clarksburg, WV, on Monday, August 22 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 23, at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at the Bridgeport Cemetery.
