Funeral services were conducted here Friday for Mrs. Albert Froemming, one of the early residents of Leaf Valley township but who has resided in Alexandria for the past dozen years.
Bertha Augusta Schoeneck, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand Schoeneck, was born in Frankburt, Germany, oct. 23, 1863. She came with her parents to America in 1867 and settled at Lebanon, Dodge county, Wis., where friends had preceded them. Here she attended school. She was confirmed in 1877 in the Lutheran faith. In 1885, with her parents and one brother, she came to Douglas county where the family purchased a farm in Leaf Valley township. In 1886, she was united in marriage to Albert Froemming and they settled on Mr. Froemming's farm in Leaf Valley. Mr. and Mrs. Froemming retired from the farm in 1927 and moved to Fergus Falls which was their home until 1937 when they came to Alexandria and this was her home until she passed away Nov. 1, after a severe illness of six weeks.
Twelve children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Froemming, two sons passing in infancy and two later. Albert lost his life in the first World War and Alfred passed away in 1931. Besides her husband, eight children survive, namely: (Adella) Mrs. Fred Kuehl of Alexandria, Edmund and Walter of Garfield, (Francis) Mrs. John Kuehl of Glyndon, Erhard of Leaf Valley, (Irene) Mrs. Henry Borchert of Alexandria, (Luella) Mrs. Harry Woesner and Irwin also of Alexandria. One brother, William Schoeneck, preceded her in death. Thirty-two grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were held Nov. 4 at Zion Lutheran church, Rev. A. C. Seltz officiating. The pallbearers were Roy Froemming, Norman Kuehl, Miles Froemming, Harlan Froemming, Duwayne Schoeneck and Vernus Kuehl. Interment was made in Kinkead cemetery.
