Born Feb. 25, 1909, in Farmdale to Fred Fries Sr. and Elizabeth Marie "Lizzie" Heller Fries, she married Frank Melvin on Feb. 27, 1929, in Washington. He died May 26, 1965 in Peoria. She then married August Feicke on Sept. 17, 1966, in Washington. He died in December 1984.
She also was preceded in death by her twin sister, two brothers and one stepson.
Surviving are one son, Larry L. Melvin of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; one stepson, Jack Feicke of Pekin; and one daughter, Margie Ellen Scholes of Creve Coeur; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several stepgrandchildren; two brothers, Logan Fries of Creve Coeur and Albert Fries of Livingston, Mont.; two sisters, Loretta McCarthy of Creve Coeur and Lois Scott of East Peoria; and many nieces and nephews.
She was a member of the Caterpillar Retirees Club and a square dance club in the Peoria area. She also was involved with the Cub Scouts.
She was a member of Sunnyland Christian Church, where she taught Sunday school for 17 years.
Burial will be in Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
