Robert T. Friend, 62, son of Charles Friend of Lafayette and brother of Mrs. Lela Brand of Lafayette route 5, died early Saturday morning at his home in West Lafayette, after an 18 months' illness. He formerly was a farmer, and from 1914 until 1946, when he became ill, he was in the milk brokerage business. He was also known for his interest in music and athletics in the schools. For several years the family lived on the Bartmess farm west of Dayton.

Surviving are the widow: four sons and three daughters, one of the daughters being Mrs. Albert Stewart of West Lafayette; seven grandchildren; his father, and two sisters.

The deceased man was buried in the Dayton cemetery Monday afternoon following funeral services held in Lafayette.
