Doris C. (Friel) Confer, 89, of Arnold, died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006, surrounded by her family. She was born April 6, 1917, in Natrona, a daughter of the late Jack and Catherine Ganter Friel, and lived in the area all of her life.
She was a homemaker and member of St. Joseph Church, New Kensington, the Legion of Mary (Rosary Society), the Fischers and the Catholic Daughters of America.
She was a graduate of St. Joseph High School, Natrona, and enjoyed playing cards, knitting and baking.
Survivors include her son, Craig (Donis) Confer, of Allegheny Township; two daughters, Carol Yanok, of New Kensington, and Kathleen Fields, of Allegheny Township; brothers-in-law, Joseph Heinle, of Natrona Heights, and William Lentz, of Harrisburg; sister-in-law, Betty Friel, of Tarentum; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Confer; a son, Kenneth Confer; three brothers, Warren, Richard and Jack Friel; and three sisters, Elizabeth George, Kathleen Lentz and Madalyn Heinle.
A Christian Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Church, New Kensington, with the Rev. Larry Kulick as celebrant.
Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
