Age 89, she was the daughter of the late John and Josephine Allen Friel.

Elinor was a graduate of Wattsburg Area High School and had attended Wooster College. She was a former Christian Education Director at Wayside Presbyterian Church and the First Presbyterian Church of the Covenant. She was the Director of the Roger Williams House, and the Director for the Resource Center for the Lake Erie Presbytery, and served on many Presbytery committees including Christian Education. She was involved with many ecumenical events when John Mark Gannon was Bishop.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth R. Carr, in 1997; and a half brother, Allen Phelps.

She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Jamieson and her husband John, of Annapolis, Md. and Eileen Pierce and her husband Keith, of Brookfield, Wis.; a son, David K. Carr and his wife Barbara, of Oak Hill, Va.; seven grandchildren; and also several nieces and nephews.

Burial will be in Greenfield Cemetery.
