Amelia Adelia French, 99, of Barron, died Monday, Aug. 9, 1999, at Barron Memorial Medical Center-Extended Care Unit in Barron.
She was born April 20, 1900, in the Town of New Haven, Dunn County, to George and Anna Talmage.
On Dec. 10, 1919, she married Evan N. French in Minneapolis, Minn. She and her husband farmed for 26 years in the Boyceville and Ridgeland areas. In 1945, they moved to Barron. She worked as a waitress at the Pal Cafe and later for the Iderreiden and Stokely Canning Co.
She was a member for more than 50 years of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Barron and a former member of the Rebakka Lodge in Barron.
She is survived by a son, Victor (Phyllis) French of Barron; a daughter-in-law, Donna French of Roberts; 10 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grand-children; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by husband, Evan N. French in 1977; her parents; a son, Newell French; one great-granddaughter; one great-grandson; three brothers; and four sisters.
Funeral services were Friday, Aug. 13, 1999, at the Calvary Baptist Church in Barron with the Revs. John Terpstra and Walter Olson officiating. Burial was in Wayside Cemetery in Barron.Arrangements were handled by the Rausch-Rockman Funeral Service in Barron.
