Beverly J. Baker, 70, of Effingham died at 9:20 p.m. Friday, July 10, 2009, at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, Effingham.
The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Johnson Funeral Home,Effingham, with the Rev. Kent Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Springfield. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.
Mrs. Baker was born Sept. 17, 1938, in Effingham County, the daughter of Merle and Helen (Arnold) French. She married Sonny Lane in 1956 and he preceded her in death in1977. She then married Carl Baker and he preceded her in death in 1983.
She was a past employee of St. John's Hospital, Springfield, and retired from St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, Effingham, after 23 years of service. Beverly was a member of Effingham VFW Auxillary and Women of the Moose.
Survivors include her mother, Helen Smith of Effingham; son, Gary Lane of Rochester; daughters, Terri (Wayne) Eichelberger of Sandwich and Pam (Larry) Nease of Effingham; grandchildren, Layke Cameron Lane, Davey (Randi) Hope, Leigh Ann Hope, Blake (Vicki) Nation, Blane Nation (fiance, Jason Traxler), and Kaitlyn Nease; great-grandchildren, Annabelle and McKinly Hope, Alex Hope, Riley and Kyndal Nation, Jordan Kritz and Starr, Serenity and Sierra Traxler; dear friend and sister-in-law Rose French; Uncle Pete (Evelyn) Arnold; nephews, Richard, Rob and Chris French; nieces, Lacey and Monica French; stepmother, Louise French and many cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father; husbands, Sonny Lane and Carl Baker; sister, Janet Sue French; brother, Ronnie French Sr.; nephew, Ronnie French Jr. and special friend, Donnie Davis.
