PAW PAW - Merle E. French, 73, of 30th Street, Paw Paw, died Monday, May 17, 1999 at LakeView Community Hospital. He was born August 13, 1925, the son of Orel and Lois (Middleton) French.
He was employed for 41 years as a millwright for James River Paper Co. He served in the United States Marine Corps, and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by two daughters, Barbara DeWitt of Kalamazoo and Linda Williams of Grand Junction, Mich., six sons, Bobbie of Vicksburg, MI, Orel of Gobles, Merle Jr. of Nevado, CA, Ronald of Reed City, MI, Charles of Fennville, MI, and Clifford of Paw Paw; three brothers, Clifford of Lawton, Junior of Mattawan, and Ray of Hartford; 22 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held today (Friday) at 10 am at Oak Grove Cemetery, Lawton. Arrangements are by the Thompson and Hawley Funeral Home, Paw Paw.
