SOURCE: EPITAPHS From the OLD CEMETERIES OF LIVERPOOL, NOVA SCOTIA Copied and annotated by Charles Warman with Additional notes by Robert J. Long BOSTON, MASS.

Note: Hon. John Campbell came to Liverpool from Shelburne and established a large business. Calnek and Savary's "History of Annapolis" says that Hon. Samuel Campbell of Weymouth, born in Shelburne, was a half brother to Hon. John Campbell of Liverpool and Hon. Colin Campbell of Weymouth, and that their father was Colin Campbell, born in 1757 in "one of the old colonies." but forced to leave about 1783 because of his Loyalist sentiments. He settled first in St. Andrews N.B. where he was collector of customs, but afterwards removed to Shelburne, where he was collector of customs for forty years, and for one or more terms a member of the House of Assembly. Late in life he moved to Digby County, where he died in 1834, aged 83.
John Campbell, of Liverpool, was in the House of Assembly for many years. His sons, Thomas F. and Colin were at one time extensive ship-owners, and they were in business with their cousin, Archibald Campbell.
Mr. Campbell's wife was Sarah Teresa, daughter of Capt. Thomas Freeman.
