Elsie Browning Adair, 95, former resident of Greenwood, S.C., and Madison, Ga., passed away at Heritage Healthcare of Athens on March 29, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Samuel Young Adair; son, Major Samuel Young Adair Jr.; and parents, Oba Freeman and Lorayne Mobley Browning.She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Oba Browning Adair and Francine of Maxeys, Ga.; granddaughter, Laura Adair Brown and husband, Matt, of Monroe, Ga.; great-granddaughter, Emily Adair Brown; a brother, Cecil O. Browning of Greenwood and Hilton Head, S.C.; three sisters, Sybil Browning Traylor of LaGrange, Ga., Lottie Browning Hodges of Madison, Ga., and Joyce Browning Wharton of Sumter, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews.Mrs. Adair was a former member of Main Street United Methodist Church in Greenwood as well as Madison United Methodist Church in Madison, Ga.A private graveside service will be conducted Wednesday at Edgewood Cemetery in Greenwood with Rev. James D.
