She was born Sept 16, 1899 in Worth, a daughter of Joseph & Lizzie Jewett Freeman. She married Sterling Brownell of Worth on June 25, 1919 at the First Baptist Church, Rev. Frank Anderson Officiating. He died Jan. 31, 1979. A son Wilbur died in 1972. Surviving are 6 sons , Vernon, West Leyden, Walter, Castorland, Merrill, Brownville, Allen, Rapid City, SD., Neil, West Monroe, and James, Adams Center, 3 daughters, Mrs. Gerald(Beatrice) Traynor, Rochester, Mrs Frank ( Evelyn) VanSeveren, Green Bay , Wis., and Mrs. Peter (June) Loftus, Watertown, 37 grandchildren; 51 great grandchildren;2 gr. gr. grandchildren, a sister Mrs. Howard (Rose) Carley, Watertown & several neices & nephews..furnished by Thelma Dickinson Moye (#47033751)
A graveside committal service for Elsie S. Brownell, 88, Madonna Home, formerly of 832 Holcomb St., will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Barnes Corners Cemetery, Rev. Robert Nortar, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, Mullin Street, officiating.
Mrs. Brownell, widow of Sterling E. Brownell, died Feb. 18 at the Madonna Home.
