CHARLES RALPH "CHARLIE" FREEMAN III, 8, died Saturday, December 9, 2006, in a tragic farm accident near Lone Wolf, Oklahoma.
He was born Oct. 14, 1998, in Tulsa to Charles Ralph and Carrie Freeman. He was a second grade student in Mrs. Orrell's class at Hobart Elementary School where he was Student of the Month in August of this year. He was also the Student of the Month at Sunset Elementary School in Altus in January 2006 while in first grade. He was a wonderful student who loved to read and learn. He played soccer, basketball and baseball in Altus and baseball in Hobart. Participating in sports was one of his favorite activities and he was very excited to be participating in the Hobart basketball program.
He liked to play football on his X-Box and strove to win the "Heisman" every time he played. He also collected sports cards and was a huge Oklahoma State University football and basketball fan. He also loved to watch NBA and NFL games. He had a great memory for sports trivia and could tell you the starting line-up and stats for his favorite teams.
He had a serious, intense personality. He was very competitive and thrived on being challenged. He enjoyed playing games and especially loved to play one-on-one with his parents, and wrestle with his daddy.
He loved to help take care of his little sisters, Viv and Zell, and help his mom around the house. He especially liked to help her cook and decorate cookies. He loved to go hunting and fishing with his dad and Uncle Joe Max, and spend time outdoors.
He loved his cousins and friends dearly, and could never get enough of playing with them. The more friends to play with the more he liked it, especially with his cousins at family gatherings. He loved eating at buffets and living in Tulsa.
He had a generous heart. At his birthday party he gave a friend some of his birthday money and couldn't understand why the mom returned it. He always gave of his things to others and it made him happy to do it.
He was full of life and a very active child. He had great compassion for others and truly cared about his family and friends. He loved God and knew that he would see him in Heaven some day. He was a true joy to all who knew him.
He is survived by his parents, Charles Ralph and Carrie Freeman; sisters Vivian and Zell Freeman; grandparents, Charles and Betty Freeman of Hobart, Gary Banks of Sentinel, Okla., and Virginia Ward of Lawton, Okla.;
great-grandparents, Ralph and Maurine Freeman of Hobart, Vivian Boehm of Hobart, and Irene and James Howard of Bryan, Texas; uncles, Joe Max Freeman of Hobart, TR Banks and wife Renee of Edmond, Okla.; aunts, Valerie Roberts and husband Chris of Altus, Andrea Wilks and husband Kenny of Dallas, Texas, Melody Hunt and husband Ryan of Grandfield, Okla., Cherie Nimoiya and husband Takahiro of Japan; cousins, Colson Roberts of Altus, Hailey Hunt of Grandfield, Lillian Banks of Edmond, and Reina Nimoiya of Japan.
