Oscar I. Freeman, age 27 years 5 months, enlisted at Denver, Colorado Territory, September 8, 1861 and mustered in as private, Company F, 1st Colorado Cavalry, at Denver September 31, 1861. He was discharged for disability, from the effects of a wound received while on duty, at Camp Weld, Colorado Territory, January 22, 1863.

Freeman, enrolled for a one-year term at Camp Douglas, Salt Lake City, Utah Territory, February 6 and mustered in as private of Captain Albert Brown's Company L (New), 2nd California Cavalry, at Fort Bridger, Wyoming Territory, March 21, 1865. Private Freeman was mustered out, due to the expiration of his term of service, at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, February 6, 1866.
