Nancy Ruth Becker, 72, was welcomed into the arms of her loving God on Saturday, June 13, 2009, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, IA. Nancy lost the fight in her battle against ALS but left this world victoriously with faith in her God and her love for God, family and friends. Nancy was born on March 21, 1937 in Runnells, Iowa to Alva and Ruth (Blood) Freel. On September 8, 1957 Nancy married the love of her life Donald Dwaine Becker and their marriage was blessed with three children, Rodney, Julie and Clifford as well as nine grandchildren.
Nancy grew up in both Van Meter and Dallas Center, Iowa and was graduated from Dallas Center H.S. in 1955. She was also graduated from Iowa Methodist School of Nursing in 1958 as a R. N. (Registered Nurse). Nancy's passion in life was her family and she spent most of the last 45 years living in the Kansas City, MO area helping Don build a successful Fire Sprinkler business. Don and Nancy became integrally involved with the American Fire Sprinkler Association (AFSA) and they traveled extensively and made many friends through their involvement with AFSA. Don and Nancy enjoyed many summers with family and friends at their cabins in the Colorado Rockies located in the abandoned mining town of Tincup, CO.
Nancy was a loving, caring and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend; she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her husband of nearly 52 years, Donald Becker of Dallas Center; son, Rodney and wife, Charlotte Becker and grandchildren, Kate, Jacque, Joshua and Annie of Dallas Center; daughter, Julie Becker of Cameron, MO; and son, Clifford and wife, Wendy Becker and grandchildren, Jonathan, David, Kimberly, Elizabeth and Rachel of Gladstone, MO. Also surviving are seven sisters and two brothers, Edna Underwood of Des Moines, Mildred Freel of Iowa City, IA, Rollie Freel of Marshalltown, IA, Florence "Flo" DeBoest of Dallas Center, Donna Hutchens of Mason City, IA, Dick Freel of Redding, CA, Grace Russ of Ukiah, CA, ErmaDell Jensen of Des Moines and Karen Mapes of Cameron, MO; and a host of many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Nancy was preceded into eternal life by her parents; and one brother at infancy, John Donald "Little Johnny."
