LEXINGTON Kathryn L. Berry, 73, Lexington, died at 7:25 a.m. Monday (Dec. 13, 2010) at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church, Lexington, with the Rev. Garry Gromley officiating. Cremation rites will follow with inurnment at Lexington Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Calvert-Johnson & Musselman Funeral Home, Lexington, with Order of the Eastern Star services at 7 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.

Memorials may be made to the family.

Kathryn was born Jan. 15, 1938, in Bloomington, the daughter of Roy E. "Pard" and Gwyndolyn A. McHugh Freed. She married Charles A. Berry on Dec. 27, 1958, in Lexington. He died Dec. 4, 2010.

Surviving are three children, Pam (Art) Keene, Bloomington; Brad (Robyn) Berry, Lexington; and Ronda (Mike) Bennett, Appleton, Wis.; three brothers, Doug (Barb) Freed, Hugh (Rosie) Freed and Rich Freed, all of Lexington; seven grandchildren, Anna, Misty and Kristy Gibson; Nicole and Brendan Berry; and Michael and Matthew Bennett; and four great-grandchildren, Hope, Markus, Maleek and Cain.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Judith Freed; and one sister-in-law, Alice Freed.

Kathryn was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lexington where she was a Golden Elite member of more than 50 years. She graduated from Lexington High School in 1955 and worked at Young's Drug Store. She then graduated from Illinois State University and majored in music and worked at GTE in Bloomington while in school. She taught at the Lexington School District from 1966 to 1994 and then as a sub for 16 years.

She was a 53-year member of the Bloomington Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she was currently serving as Worthy Matron.

Kathryn's favorite place was Ireland and she loved spending time with her family.
