Evelyn "Evie" Frazer Drum completed her life journey on September 23, 2012 while a patient at The Hospice Center in Mount Joy. Born September 16, 1922 in the Bronx, NYC, NY, she was the daughter of Lucy (Lindstrom) and William Frazer. Her husband of 28 years, Thomas Richard Drum, died on June 19, 1969. She was predeceased by her daughter, Deborah Sue Keller, wife of Richard L. Keller; three brothers, Alexander, Arthur, and "Billie"; one half sister, Caroline; and three sisters, Ruth, Ada Margaret "Margie," and Edna.
Evelyn lived most of her adult life in Lebanon, PA, retiring to Lewes, DE in 1987. Five years ago she moved to the Manor House Apartments in Lancaster, PA to be closer to her family. She was a graduate of the Central High School of Needles Trades in Manhattan, NYC and attended the Fashion Institute of Philadelphia. Evelyn was an accomplished seamstress, using her skills in the alteration department of The Rose Singer Shop in Lebanon and working independently at home. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as the pattern maker for the Everite Knitting Mills, Inc. in Lebanon.
Evelyn was an avid reader of books, sometimes reading three a week. She was also a charter member of the Lebanon Valley Wine Club. In her earlier years, she enjoyed the camaraderie of the group, sharing trips, and making her own wine. Evelyn felt fortunate to have been able to travel to places such as Puerto Rico, the Bahamas, Hawaii, and Ireland; plus, taking a Caribbean Cruise, and a Maine Windjammer Cruise.
She is survived by her daughter, Diana Drum Stager, married to Dr. James Aaron Stager of Millersville; her son, David Thomas Drum, married to Debra Kay Drum (Hoke) of Lebanon; six grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. She was a firm believer in the unity of family and dearly loved the time she was able to spend with them. "Nana Drum" will be deeply missed.
The family would like to thank the staff at Lancashire Hall, Lancaster General Hospital, and The Hospice Center in Mount Joy for their kindness and concern while caring for her.
At Evelyn's request, there will be no funeral. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Kindly omit flowers. Memorial remembrances may be made in Evelyn's memory to Hospice & Community Care, 685 Good Drive, PO Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
