He was the son of William Gerard Fraser, Sr and Ruth Shaw Fraser of San Antonio Bexar Co TX. He had brothers Herbemont Shaw 'Monte' Fraser, US Navy WWII, and Bruce Alister Fraser, US Army WWII, and a sister, Ruth Shaw (Fraser) Lehman.
He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1938. He attended Texas A&M College in order to report for duty with the 36th Infantry Division at Camp Bowie in 1940. He was later transferred to the US Army Air Corps.
During at least two raids, 18 November and 14 December 1942, he was awarded the Silver Star and Oak Leaf Cluster for gallantry in action. Upon his death, he was awarded the Citation of Honor and the Purple Heart.
The crew disappeared in New Britain, Papua New Guinea and are listed here in the virtual cemetery for B-17F #41-24458
