Eleanor R. Frantz, 75, Sykesville-Troutville Road, Punxsutawney, died Sunday, March 9, 2014, at Penn Highlands DuBois.
Born Dec. 7, 1938, in Houtzdale, she was the daughter of the late James Crowley and Dorothy M. Keatley Crowley Robertson.
She was a 1958 graduate of Brady Township High School where she was active in county and district chorus.
On June 14, 1958, she married Harvey A. Frantz. He preceded her in death March 15, 2006.
Eleanor retired from the Central Supply Department at the DuBois Regional Medical Center. Previous to that, she had worked at the DuBois Nursing Home, Christ the King Manor, and the Maple Avenue Hospital.
She was a member of the Troutville Trinity United Church of Christ where she was a prayer chain member and a Bible school teacher. She was a den mother for the Cub Scouts, past homeroom mother for Brady Township Elementary School and a member of the PTA. She was a member of the Brady Township High School Class Reunion Committee.
She enjoyed traveling and taking car rides. She loved to plan and host yearly picnics and her annual Christmas Eve Open House. She loved trips to the ocean and her pets. She also enjoyed cooking for her family and friends and camping.
Eleanor is survived by her son, Jeffrey S. Frantz and his wife, Brenda of New Holland; her daughter, Taresa "Tracy" M. Deasey and her husband, Randy of Punxsutawney; a sister, Kathleen Dunworth and her husband, Vernon of DuBois; two brothers, William Crowley and his wife, Bonnie of Elverson and Kenneth Crowley and his wife of Debbie of Houtzdale; one stepbrother, Robert Robertson and his wife, Laurie of Clearfield; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her stepbrother, Charles Robertson and two infant brothers, James and Howard Crowley, and an infant son, Michael Frantz.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home, DuBois.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 13, 2014, at the Troutville Trinity United Church of Christ Church with Pastor Barry Fillman and Pastor Kelly Schanely co-officiating.
Burial will be in Troutville Trinity Church of Christ Cemetery.
