Helen V. Franklin Evans, 58, of Steelton, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2011 in the Pinnacle Health at Community General Hospital with her family by her side.
Helen was born in Harrisburg, PA on November 20, 1952, the daughter of Betty and the late Charles B. Franklin, Sr. She was the loving wife of James W. Evans, Jr., for over 39 years.
She was a retired program analyst for the New Cumberland Army Depot (DDSP) with over 27 years of service. Helen was the President of The Resting Place Community Center, a volunteer for Harrisburg Hospital's Women's Cancer Society and a member of Christ Community Church, Camp Hill. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, going fishing and was an avid Philadelphia Eagles and 76ers Fan.
Surviving along with her mother and husband are her son, James W. and wife Shakia Evans, III, of Steelton, two brothers, Thomas A. and Phillip "Felipe" Franklin, two sisters, Beverly A. "Muffy" and husband Russell R. Keys, Sr. and Phyllis Franklin Thomas, all of Harrisburg, her aunt, Mary Jane Giggette, Lynchburg, Va., two grandsons, James W. "Jaki" Evans, IV and James W. "Semaj" Evans, V and granddaughter, Nevaeh Evans, four godchildren, Dontra, Andrea, Navell and Monika and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her loving father and brother, Charles B. "CB" Franklin, Jr.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, September 24th, in her Church, Christ Community Church, 1201 Slate Hill Road, Camp Hill, Pa. 17011. Viewing will be Saturday, from 10:00 a.m., until time of service in the Church. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Harrisburg, PA.
