FRANKLIN, John Henderson of Rockdale. Age 76. Died 12/2/1947 (Tuesday) at his home of a heart ailment from which he had suffered for the past 12 years. Services held (Wed.) 12/3 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Chapel. Burial in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Rev. P.T. Ramsey, of Bryan, a former Methodist pastor in Rockdale officiated, assisted by Rev. T. Miller Smith local Methodist Minister. Grandsons and nephews were pallbearers.
He was BORN 7/16/1871 and was a farmer and business man in Milam Co. all of his life with the exception of 5 years spent at Tulia, Swisher Co., TX. In early 1900's he served as justice of peace at Thorndale. He resigned from active business due to ill health. Member of the Methodist Church. Longtime member of Woodman of the World, being a charter member of the Camp of the Lodge at Thorndale.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Mrs. Daisy Keen Franklin, whom he married 2/19/1893; 2 daughters and 3 sons, Mrs. D.D. Horton, San Antonio, Mrs. L.E. Gary, Rockdale, Clyde Franklin, Postmaster in Rockdale, Claude Franklin of Highlands and Keen Franklin of Calvert; 15 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; a brother and 3 sisters.
