Barbara L. (Jeppeson) Franke, age 67, of Fort Wayne, passed away at home on June 30, 2007. She was born on November 13, 1939 in Crystal Falls, Michigan. Raised in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, she moved to New Haven, Indiana for her senior year of high school (NHHS Class of 1957). She graduated from the Parkview School of Nursing, working as a registered nurse in Fort Wayne, where she met her husband, Gordon R. Franke, M.D., who preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her father and mother, James and Bernice Jeppeson.
She is survived by her sister, Lynne (William) Winget; five children, Laura Bradford, Amy (Steven) Myers and Courtney (Bradley) Ulrey all of Fort Wayne; Abbie (Thomas) Fellrath of New Albany, Ohio; and Eric (Kim) Franke of Verona, Wisconsin and six grandchildren, Caitlin and Nicholas Myers, Sydney and Jacob Ulrey, and Jordan and Hunter Franke. She was a charter member of Messiah Lutheran Church.
She loved tennis, traveling, flowers, bird watching, the arts and her many dear friends and neighbors, but she especially loved caring for others.
Services were entrusted to D.O. McComb and Sons Funeral Home of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
She is survived by her sister, Lynne (William) Winget; five children, Laura Bradford, Amy (Steven) Myers and Courtney (Bradley) Ulrey all of Fort Wayne; Abbie (Thomas) Fellrath of New Albany, Ohio; and Eric (Kim) Franke of Verona, Wisconsin and six grandchildren, Caitlin and Nicholas Myers, Sydney and Jacob Ulrey, and Jordan and Hunter Franke. She was a charter member of Messiah Lutheran Church.
She loved tennis, traveling, flowers, bird watching, the arts and her many dear friends and neighbors, but she especially loved caring for others.
