Clarence R. Franke, 82, of Gaylord died Thursday, Dec. 15 at the Arlington Good Samaritan Center in Arlington.
Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord with full Military Rites by the Gaylord Manthey-Asmus American Legion Post #433. Interment will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday, Dec.19 and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20 at Egesdal Funeral Home in Gaylord. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
Clarence Raymond Franke was born on May 20, 1923, in Sibley Township, Sibley County. He was the son of Otto and Elsa (Lemke) Franke.
Clarence served his country in the U.S. Army Infantry from October 1944 through December 1946. He was in the Battle of the Southern Philippines. Clarence received the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with one Bronze Star, the Philippines Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Battle Star and the Army of Occupation Medal/Japan.
Clarence is survived by his wife, Elaine Franke of Gaylord; children, Norman Franke of Brainerd, Mary Blaha of Le Sueur, Cheryl Brouwerof Kasota, Barbara Hoffman of Le Sueur, John Franke of Gaylord, and Roger Franke of Kasson; 10 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and sisters, Saila Furch, Bernice Zachow and Mildred Henke.
