Irene Aschenbrenner, 91 of Greeley, CO, passed away Tuesday evening, December 7, 2010 at the Life Care Center of Greeley, CO.
She was born on March l6 1919 In Loveland, CO to Henry A. and Anna M. (Lesser) Frank. The oldest of 7 children, Irene helped her father on the family farm and attended rural school.

Throughout her childhood, Irene attended the First Congregational Church in Loveland with her family, where she was baptized, confirmed and later, married to Adam Aschenbrenner on March 5 1939. They resided and worked on her father's farm east of Loveland. After spending time in Cheyenne, WY and Loveland CO, they moved to Wiggins, CO in 1948, where they settled into farming and raising their three children; son Allen and daughters Judy and Dona.

Irene's faith was very dear to her and she enjoyed attending the Wiggins Community Church where Adam and she were long time members, along with serving in the Women's Fellowship. Irene volunteered and was involved in many activities in the Wiggins community.

As a couple, Irene and Adam enjoyed polka music and dancing, many vacations together and spending time with family and friends at their cabin in Red Feather, CO.

Irene was always busy doing something for her family and friends. She had so many incredible talents which included growing beautiful flowers, sewing, crocheting, knitting, cooking and baking German food. She was known for her homemade noodles and her chocolate angel food cake. She loved poetry and wrote many poems herself. She was an artist and painted many beautiful pictures.

Most of all, Irene was a devoted loving mother and wife, who took great pride in caring for her family. She especially relished her grandchildren, spending as much time with them as she could. She will be deeply missed, and has left us with so many loving memories.

Irene is proceeded in death by her husband Adam, 2 brothers, Harry and Elmer Frank, one sister Hilda Kauffman, three brother in-laws Robert Standage, Martin Bunker and Jake Kauffman; 2 sister in-laws Nancy Frank and Bernice Frank.

She is survived by her son, Allen Aschenbrenner and wife Kathleen of Ft. Morgan; daughter Judy Dorsey and husband Al of Greeley; daughter Dona Adler and husband Dan of Holyoke; two sisters, Ruby Standage of Denver and Mildred Bunker of Greeley; one brother, Robert Frank of Holyoke; 6 grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren.

Funeral service, Monday, 10:30a.m., First Congregational Church of Loveland. Pastor James Watson officiating. Viewing at the Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home, Sunday, 2-4p.m. Interment, Loveland Burial Park.
