Anna Jean Francis (1927-2011)


FRISCO - Anna Jean Francis passed away May 27, 2011 at the age of 84. She was born to Walter Dodson (Dot) Mays and Ida Thelma Kerley Mays on March 31, 1927 in Dallas, Texas. She grew up along with her twin sister, Charlene, in Frisco, Texas where the family was active in the First Baptist Church. After graduation from Frisco High School, Anna Jean met and married Henry Alton Francis of Gunter, Texas on November 26, 1947, and they were blessed with 4 children. Anna worked side by side with her husband at Henry's Grocery and Market, which later became Henry's Supermarket and then Exxon Quick Check, for 37 years.
Anna Jean was a gracious Christian mother with a cheerful spirit. She will always be remembered for her devotion and love for the Lord, her family, and friends.
Anna Jean is survived by her children, Sherri Hamby and her husband, Woodrow of Whitewright, Texas, Dennis Francis and his wife, Deborah of Frisco, Texas, Larry Francis and his wife Tammy of Whitewright, Texas, and Kelly Francis of Frisco, Texas; sister, Charlene Cobb of Frisco, Texas; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Anna Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Alton Francis and granddaughter, Shanna Francis.
A Funeral Service will be held at First Baptist Church of Frisco on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Chuck Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Rowlett Cemetery.
