Sandra Lea "Sandi" Barker passed away Friday, October 5, 2012, at her home in Odessa after an eight year battle with cancer.
Sandi was born in Odessa on May 6, 1949, to Marshall Hearvey Fox and Estelle Mae Daffern.
She attended Odessa High School and graduated Salutatorian from the San Angelo Vocational School of Nursing in 1976. She worked in many nursing fields throughout her career, including drug abuse treatment and geriatrics. She received the Nurse of the Year award in 1993 for her service at Parks Good Samaritan in Odessa.
Sandi was a devoted Catholic and animal lover who enjoyed reading, crocheting, dancing, and more reading. Sandi so enriched those she knew with her compassion and wit. She will be greatly missed.
Sandi was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Betty Lou Salter and Mary Ann Suitt.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, son, and daughter, grandchildren, sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews. Sandi also had a brother.
Funeral services will be held at American Heritage funeral chapel on Wednesday, October 10 at 10 a.m. Interment will be at the American Heritage Cemetery. Reception to follow services at the Fraternal Order of Eagles lodge (1344 E 7th) in Odessa. Sandi requested that in lieu of flowers, family and friends send donations to the ASPCA.
