Katherine Fox Burns, church Organist, Dies At Boston Hospital
The funeral of Mrs. Katherine (Fox) Burns, 64, of 195 Upland road and formerly of 43 Highfield road, Merrymount, who dies suddenly yesterday in St. Elizabeth's hospital, Brighton, after a prolonged illness, will be held Monday from the Michael T. Walsh funeral home, 183 Quincy avenue at 10:15 o'clock followed at 11 o'clock by a solemn high mass of requiem in St. John's church. Burial will be in Blue Hill cemetery, Braintree. Mrs. Burns was the wife of the late James S. Burns and for many years was a leader in musical circles here. She was formerly organist of St. Jerome's church, North Weymouth, and Our Lady of Good counsel church, Quincy, of which latter church her daughter Mary, now Mrs. James P. Reilly of North Weymouth is organist. She was past president of the Quincy Business and Professional Women's club. For thirty years she had lived in Quincy and Wollaston and earlier lived in Hyde Park and Dedham. She was a participant in many music revues and was active in earlier years in the Quincy Women's club. Survivors in addition to her daughter Martha, now Mrs. Walter P. Goodrich of Brockton: and a son James S. Burns Jr., of East Weymouth; six grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. William Patch of Wollaston, and Mrs. Joseph O'Donnell of Readville.
