Edith Louise Fox Brown, 88, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, in her granddaughter's Lafayette home. Born Jan. 5, 1915, at Elizabethtown, KY, she graduated from West Point High School and had lived in Lafayette since 1924. On Nov. 21, 1938, she married William A. "Brownie" Brown in Lafayette, IN; he died Sept. 9, 1981.
Mrs. Brown had been a waitress at a restaurant at Fourth and South streets, and worked in the jewelry department at Loeb's Department Store for several years. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, and her hobby was gardening.
Surviving are three daughters: Margie Brown Lyman, Judy Brown Williams, and Linda Brown Wise, all of Lafayette; a sister, Laverne Batta of West Lafayette; 11 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, John R. and Bessie Lee Klinglesmith Fox; and a sister, Elizabeth Ewing.
