Major General Cecil Edward Fox, USAF Ret., 88, passed away Sunday, Dec. 25, 2011. He will be buried at the United States Military Academy Post Cemetery at West Point on Jan. 9, 2012.

Cecil Edward was born in Waco, Texas, the last surviving son of the late John and Annie (Schad) Fox. He attended Baylor University and received a service appointment to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y. He received his commission in 1947. He served in both Korea and Vietnam and was a command pilot with more than 5,500 flying hours. His military decorations and awards include the Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award; and from the Republic of Vietnam, the Armed Forces Distinguished Service Order, 2d Class, Air Service Medal, Honor Class, and Gallantry Cross. General Fox retired from the Air Force in 1980. He was married to Carol Sue (Abraham) Fox for 53 years. He and his wife lived and enjoyed their retirement in Austin until Carol's death.

He was preceded in death by his wife in August of 2009; and brothers, Paul, William, John, Charles, and James.

Survivors include his sons, Michael and Brian; daughter, Teresa; eight grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
